BRCC sweeps Nunez today at Chalmette High School. Game one score was 4 to 1 and game two was 7 to 5
Baton Rouge defeats Nunez 4 to 1 in game one. BRCC used a solid pitching performance and some timely hitting to get the victory. Bears got on the board first with three runs, in the third inning, to take an early lead. The scoring started when Evan Vickers singled to right field driving in Michael Smith, who doubled to open the inning. Kolby Blanchard hit a two run homerun to centerfield to finish off the scoring in the third. Nunez would load the bases in the fifth but the Bears would hold them to only one run. After five innings, the Bears led 3 to 1. Baton Rouge would tact on another run in sixth inning, when Kendall Kennedy would score on a ground out by Samuel Jarrell.
The Bears got a solid pitching performance by sophomore left hander Keith Meier. He pitched four and two-thirds innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 8. Braxton Dufrene would pitch two and one-thirds innings of scoreless baseball in relief.
Game 1 Bears Highlights:
Kolby Blanchard went 1 for 3 with 1 Run and 2 RBIs. Including a 2 run homer
Seth Daugherty went 2 for 4 with 1 Run
Michael Smith went 1 for 3 with 1 Run
Evan Vickers went 2 for 3 with 1 RBI
Bears take a late lead ,in game two, to snag a 7 to 5 victory over Nunez. BRCC jumped out to an early 3 to 0 lead, in the third inning. Nunez would score three runs of their own, in the fifth inning, to tie the game at three. Both team traded runs in the sixth inning. The game was tied at four heading into the seventh inning. The Bears scored three runs in the top of the seventh to take a 7 to 4 lead that they would not relinquish. Nunez attempted a rally but only scored one run in the bottom of the seventh.
Brooks Southall started the game on the mound for the Bears pitching five innings allowing 4 runs off of 6 hits while striking out 6. Michael Russell came out of the bullpen to pitch two innings allowing 1 run off of 1 hit while striking out 2.

Tyler Caston went 1 for 3 with 1 Run and 1 RBI
Kolby Blanchard went 1 for 3 with 2 Runs, 1 RBI, and 1 BB.
Hunter David went 1 for 3 with 1 Run, 1 RBI and 1 BB.
Samuel Jarrell went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI
The Bears will be back in action this Wednesday April 11 as they take on LSU Club team at Pete Goldsby Field. Game time is 6 pm.
