The Bears struggled to find their offensive groove against Grayson's pitcher Rorik Maltrud. Maltrud struck out ten Bears, on the evening, on route to a 6 to 2 victory.
The Bears did get on the board first with a run, in the second inning. Donavon Murray would single to centerfield driving in Kolby Blanchard, who reached on a single to left field. Grayson would respond with three runs, in the third innings, to take a 3 to 1 lead after three innings. Grayson would add a run in the fifth and a run in the sixth inning to extend their lead to 5 to 1, after six. Baton Rouge would tact on a run in the seventh, when Murray would score on a fielder's choice. Grayson would add an insurance run, in the ninth, to take the 6 to 2 victory over the Bears.
Rorik Maltrud earned the victory for Grayson College. He pitched five innings allowing one run on five hits while striking out ten. Jordy Adams took the loss for Baton Rouge. He pitched four innings, allowing three runs on five hits, while striking out one. Salvador Lusco, Trevor Benoit and Jacob Cyr all pitched in relief for the Bears. They combined to pitch five innings allowing two runs on four hits.
Grayson College outhit Baton Rouge 9 to 7. BRCC committed three errors on the day.
Donavon Murray went 2 for 5 with 1 run and 1 RBI
Cameron Crawford went 2 or 4
Samuel Jarrell went 1 for 3
Kolby Blanchard went 1 for 4 with 1 run
The Bears will be back in action early tomorrow morning as they will take on Laredo at 9 am at Lamar University.
