#1 nationally ranked LSUE Bengals used some solid pitching, some clutch hitting and took advantage of the Bears inconsistent pitching to defeat Baton Rouge tonight 15 to 3, in seven innings. LSUE scored first with two runs, in the first, to take the early lead. Bengals pitching kept the Bears off balance for most of the night. The Bears were held scoreless for the first five innings. Baton Rouge was getting on the bases but timely hitting was what the Bears were missing.
LSUE would add a run, in the four, to extend their lead to 3 to 0. In the fifth inning, the Bengals exploded for 12 runs to take a commanding 15 to 0 lead. Baton Rouge would get on the board with two runs, in the sixth inning. Samuel Jarrell would open the inning with a single to left field, and he would later score on a fielder's choice. Luke Lancon, who was hit by a pitch, would score on a Luis Marmolejos single to left field. Baton Rouge would add another run, in the seventh, when Cameron Crawford would walk and score on a Bengal's error.
LSUE out hit Baton Rouge 9 to 6. Bears pitching walked 13 Bengals in the game.
A. Sheridan got the victory for the LSUE Bengals. He pitched five inning allowing zero runs on three hits while striking out 4. Joseph Battaglia III got the loss for Baton Rouge. Joe pitched four innings allowing six runs on four hits while striking out two. Jordy Adams, Konner Leon, Christopher Sagrera and Jacob Cyr all pitched in relief for the Bears.

The Bears will be back in action tomorrow, March 17 as the LSUE series moves to Baton Rouge for a 2 pm first pitch at Pete Goldsby Field.
