November 19, 2018: Men's Basketball
A second half surge, by the Bulldogs, helped them defeat the Bears 78 to 52, in the first game of the MGCCC Thanksgiving classic. It was a back and forth game in the first half. At the 7:25 mark of the first half, the Bears held a 21 to 20 lead. Mississippi Gulf Coast then went on a 17 to 8 run to take a 37 to 29 lead into the half. In the second half, the Bears had no answers for the Bulldogs as they went on a 12-0 run, early in the half, to break the game open at 64 to 39. BRCC tried to claw their way back into the game but the Bulldogs defense was too much for the Bears. Final score was Mississippi Gulf Coast 78 and Baton Rouge 52.
Keevon Oney led Mississippi Gulf Coast with 15 points.
Mississippi Gulf Coast improves to 4-0 on the season, while Baton Rouge falls to 1-5.
Baton Rouge will play Northeast Mississippi tomorrow November 19 at noon. This will be the last game for BRCC in the MGCCC Thanksgiving classic.
