Baton Rouge Lady Bears drop a pair of games this afternoon, at Oak Villa Park, to Blinn College Buccaneers. Blinn won game one 12 to 0, in five innings and takes game two; 11 to 4.
In game one, the Lady Bears fell behind early and were unable to fight their way back. M. Morris, Blinn's pitcher, threw a no-hitter for the complete five inning victory. She allowed zero runs on zero hits, while striking out five and walking one. Blinn got on the board with three runs, in the first and exploded for seven runs, in the second, to take a commanding 10 to 0 lead. The Buccaneers would add a run, in the fourth, and, in the fifth, to cap off their 12 to 0 victory over the Lady Bears.
Blinn outhit Baton Rouge 13 to 0. Baton Rouge committed seven errors compared to one for Blinn.
Kelsey Cifreo took the loss for the Lady Bears. Kelsey pitched five innings allowing, twelve runs on thirteen hits while striking out one.
In game two, the Lady Bears would rally late but it was not enough to overcome an early deficient. Blinn wins game two 11 to 4.
Blinn would combine to score five runs over the first three inning to take a 5 to 0 lead, after three innings. The Lady Bears would get on the board with a run, in the fourth inning. Hallie Autin would single and score on a Bailey Duhon single up the middle for the Lady Bears first run of the day. Both teams would score two runs in the fifth inning. After five, Blinn led 7 to 3. Baton Rouge would load the bases in the fifth , when Courtney Ortego would lead off with a double, Allie Vincent would single and Kelsey Cifreo would walk. Hallie Autin would strike again as she would single up the middle scoring Ortego and Vincent. Baton Rouge would inch closer in the sixth with another run, 7 to 4. Courtney Ortego, who walked, would score on a Kelsey Cifreo single to the shortstop. Blinn would score four runs, in seventh, to seal the 11 to 4 victory.
A. Torres earned the victory for Blinn. She pitched seven innings allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out five. Bailey Duhon got the loss for the Lady Bears. Bailey pitched six and two-thirds inning allowing eleven runs on eleven hits while striking out one. Shelby Breaux pitched in relief for the Lady Bears.
Blinn out hit Baton Rouge 11 to 7. Baton Rouge committed seven errors compared to one for Blinn.
Game 2 Highlights:
Hallie Autin went 2 for 4 with 1 Run and 2 RBIs
Bailey Duhon went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI
Courtney Ortego went 1 for 3 with 2 Runs
Allie Vincent went 2 for 3 with 1 run
Kelsey Cifreo went 1 for 2 with 1 RBI and 1 BB
The Lady Bears will be back in action this Friday March 29 as they travel Wesson, Mississippi to take on the Co-Lin Lady Wolves. The doubleheader will begin at 3 pm.
