Monday November 12, 2018: Women's Basketball
A sluggish start dooms the Lady Bears, as they are defeated this afternoon by the Co-Lin Lady Wolves 71 to 49. The Lady Wolves jumped out to an early 28 to 8 lead with the help of six three point baskets. They closed the quarter with a 32 to 11 lead over the Bears. BRCC made a push, in the second quarter, with the help of some good free throw shooting, as they made 14 of 22 free throws, in the first half. The Lady Bears actually outscored the Lady Wolves in the second quarter 16 to 10. Co-Lin held a 15 point lead, 42 to 27 at the half.
At the half, BRCC was led in scoring by Kayla Watson with 8 points. She scored six of the Bears first eight points of the game. Tronayia Issac came off the bench to score 7 first half points. She also grabbed three rebounds. The Lady Bears shot 27% from the field in the first half. Co-Lin was led by Sha'Quandra Carter with 9 points. The Lady wolves shot 33% (7-19) from the three point line.
The second half was similar to the first half, for the Lady Bears. Even though their shooting had cooled off, the Lady Wolves took advantage of some inconsistent offense, lack of rebounding and freshman mistakes by BRCC to build a 21 point lead heading into the fourth quarter. At the end of the third quarter, Co-Lin led 57 to 36. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Bears tried to get back into the game with some solid post player by Desrael Schnyder and some decent free throw shooting, but would fall short 71 to 49.
For the game, Co-Lin shot 38 % from the field, 33% from three point line and 74%from the free throw line. They grabbed 50 rebounds. BRCC shot 23% from the field (12 for 53), 18% (2 for 11) from the three point line and 68% from the free throw line (23 of 34). BRCC had 37 rebounds in the game.

The Lady Bears will be back in action tomorrow November 13, at 5:30 pm versus tournament host Southwest Mississippi Lady Bears. This will be the final game of the Southwest Mississippi Coca-Cola Classic Tournament in Summit, Mississippi.
