Baton Rouge Lady Bears conclude their Texas road swing with two tough losses to No.18 Blinn College. Blinn College wins game one 5 to 3 and rallies late, in game two, to defeat Baton Rouge 8 to 5.
Blinn College Buccaneers edge the Baton Rouge Lady Bears 5 to 3, in game one this afternoon in Brenham. Blinn would get on the board first, in the first inning, with two runs to take an early lead. Baton Rouge would score one run, in the third inning, to close the gap to 2 to 1. Savanna Orgeron would lead off with a walk and score on a Blayne Pence single. The Buccaneers would respond with a run of their own, in the third inning, to extend their lead to 3 to 1, after three innings. Blinn would tact on another run, in the fourth inning. Baton Rouge would score two more runs, in the fifth, to again inch closer at 4 to 3. Hallie Autin would reach base by being hit by a pitch and Bailey Duhon would walk. Both would score on a Haleigh Laylle double to left field. Blinn would respond and add an insurance run, in the fifth, to grab a 5 to 3 lead and the victory.
M. Morris got the win for the Blinn Buccaneers. She pitched four and two-thirds innings allowing three runs on four hits while striking out two. Bailey Duhon took the loss for the Lady Bears. Bailey pitched six innings allowing five runs on nine hits while striking out three.
Game 1 Lady Bears Highlights:
Hallie Autin went 1 for 1 with 1BB and 1 Run
Blayne Pence went 1 for 4 with 1RBI
Bailey Duhon went 1 for 3 with 1 BB and 1Run
Haleigh Laylle went 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs
Allie Vincent went 1 for 1 with 2 BB
Cori Breaux went 1 for 2 with 1BB
A late big inning by the Buccaneers help them defeat the Lady Bears, 8 to 5. Baton Rouge would get on the board first with one run, in the second inning. Allie Vincent, who reached on a fielder's choice, would score on a single to left field by Kelsey Cifreo. Blinn College would tie the game with one run, in the bottom of the inning. The Lady Bears would retake the lead, in the third inning with two runs. Hallie Autin would reach on an error and score when Payge Hebert would reach on an error. Blayne Pence, who walked, would score on a Haleigh Laylle single to left field. The Buccaneers would score a run, in the third inning, but still trailed the Lady Bears 3 to 2. The Lady Bears would add to their lead with a run, in the fourth inning. Kelsey Cifreo, who walked, would score on a sac fly by Blayne Pence. In the fifth inning, the Lady Bears struggled to control Blinns' offensive explosion as they would score six runs in the inning to take the 8 to 4 lead. The Lady Bears would not go down without a fight. They would load the bases, in the seventh, when Blayne Pence and Payge Hebert would single and Haliegh Laylle would walk. Payge Hebert would score when Allie Vincent would reach on an error but that would be the only run the Lady Bears could score as they lose game two 8 to 5.
A. Torres led Blinn College to victory as she pitched four and two-thirds innings allowing two runs on four hits while striking out three. Kelsey Cifreo started the game on the mound for Baton Rouge. Kelsey pitched four and a third innings allowing five runs on five hits. Bailey Duhon came in to pitch one and two-thirds innings in relief for the Lady Bears and she took the loss. Bailey allowed three runs on two hits.

The Lady Bears will return to action on Saturday April 27 as they travel down I-10 to take on in state rivals the LSUE Lady Bengals starting at 1 pm at Bengals Field in Euince, LA.
