Lady Bears fall to Bossier Parish Lady Cavs

The Baton Rouge Lady Bears traveled to northern Louisiana this afternoon to face the Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavs in a doubleheader. Unfortunately, the Lady Bears struggled to keep up with the Lady Cavs' offense, losing both games 9-1 and 8-0, with each game ending after five innings.
Game One:
In the first game of today's doubleheader, the Lady Bears initially took the lead. Raievah Craddock connected for a single up the middle, and Kinley Meche drove her in with a double. The Lady Cavs quickly tied the game in the bottom of the first inning, making it 1-1.
However, the Lady Cavs went on to score three runs in the third inning, four in the fourth, and one in the fifth, sealing a 9-1 victory over the Lady Bears. Despite having several opportunities to score, the Lady Bears couldn't find the timely hits they needed.
Madelyn Nolen started in the circle for the Lady Bears and took the loss, pitching 2.2 innings and allowing four runs on six hits while walking one. Kailyn Dwyer (1.0 inning) and Emily Camacho (1.0 inning) came in as relief pitchers. C. Slade started for the Lady Cavs and earned the win, pitching four innings, allowing one run on four hits while walking one. M. Gaspard pitched in relief for the Lady Cavs.
Bossier Parish out-hit Baton Rouge 11 to 6, with neither team committing an error.

Game Two:
The Lady Cavs quieted the Lady Bears' bats in the second game, leading to an 8-0 victory that was capped off with a dominant offensive performance. For the first three innings, neither team could find success offensively. However, in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Lady Cavs exploded for eight runs.
The Lady Bears managed a lead-off single from Lanie Eschette in the top of the fifth, but a strikeout followed by two groundouts ended their chances, giving the Lady Cavs the win by a final score of 8-0 after five innings.
Abbey Borel started in the circle for the Lady Bears and took the loss, pitching 3.2 innings and allowing five runs (two earned) on four hits while striking out four. Emily Camacho (0.0 innings) and Madelyn Nolen (0.1 innings) also pitched in relief. C. Costes started for the Lady Cavs and earned the victory, pitching three innings and allowing no runs on two hits while striking out three. S. Millea came in as a relief pitcher for the Lady Cavs.
Bossier Parish out-hit Baton Rouge 6 to 3, and the Lady Bears committed two errors during the game.

With these two losses, the Lady Bears' record falls to 16-28, while the Lady Cavs improve to 31-15. Bossier Parish leads the all-time series against Baton Rouge with 35 wins to 11 losses.

The Lady Bears will travel to Eunice, Louisiana, on Wednesday, April 15, to take on the Lady Bengals of LSUE in a doubleheader beginning at 2 PM.
