The Holmes Lady Bulldogs defeat the Baton Rouge Lady Bears, tonight in the Frank Branch Coliseum, by the final score of 64 to 56.

The Lady Bulldogs found their stroke, in the second quarter, as they would outscore the Lady Bears 18 to 6.  The Lady Bears struggled to control the boards, leading to easy buckets for the Lady Bulldogs. At the half, Head Coach Paula Lee asked her team to play with more intensity and out work the Lady Bulldogs. In the third quarter, the Lady Bears turned up the pressure on defense and found their rhythm on the offensive end but still trailed 44 to 36, at the end of the quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Lady Bears continued their full court pressure which forced the Lady Bulldogs into some turnovers which lead the Lady Bears to some transition buckets.  The Lady Bears also increased their presence on the boards limiting the Lady Bulldogs to one shot per possession.  Baton Rouge would cut the lead to one; 48 to 47 on an Antiesha Griffin jump shot with 5 minutes to go in the game. Unfortunately, this would be the closest the Lady Bears would get; as the Lady Bulldogs would close out the game on a 16 to 9 run to take the 64 to 56 victory.
